Reading the site

Reading prenup.nz requires no account and submits no personal information to us. Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (IP addresses, pages requested) for security and performance, and we use privacy-focused analytics served from our own domain to understand how the site is used in aggregate.

The drafting tool

The drafting tool collects personal information because that is its job: your email address for sign-in links, and the details you and your partner choose to enter, names, dates, occupations, children's details, and descriptions and values of assets and debts. This information is used for one purpose: assembling your draft agreement. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything unrelated to the tool.

Everything entered into a draft is visible to both partners. That is by design: full disclosure between partners is what makes a contracting out agreement work, and the tool says so before either of you enters anything.

Where data lives

Draft data is stored in a managed database encrypted at rest. Sign-in and partner-invite emails contain links only, never the content of your draft. Partner access links work once and expire.

How long we keep drafts

Drafts untouched for 24 months are deleted, after a warning email to both parties. Either party may request deletion of their account data at any time; because a draft belongs to two people, the other party is notified of the request and deletion takes effect 30 days later, so neither partner can silently erase a record the other may rely on.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask for access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. Reply to any email the tool has sent you, or write to the sending address shown in those emails, and we will respond.
